what-can-be-transplantedRegistering to be an organ donor is an important decision and we want to make sure you have all of the information you need when making this choice. The Center for Donation & Transplant follows New York and Vermont state laws in honoring an individual’s decision to donate his/her organs.

The registries in both NY and VT are a legal document of gift, meaning that enrolling in the registry gives your legal consent to donate organs/tissues if medically possible after death. These registries are confidential databases and your family would not be able to overturn your decision. Even when enrolling on the registry, it is still very important to discuss your wishes with your family. Discussions about organ and tissue donation, and other end of life decisions, are not easy to have in the moment. But, in times of great difficulty, knowing your wishes can make handling the situation easier on your loved ones.

If you have questions about the registry, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 518-262-5606.
